The Robert E. Wone Award for Exemplary Service was established in memory of Robert E. Wone, who served on the Governor’s Commission on Community and National Service from 2002-2006 and dedicated his life volunteering for charitable organizations and offering pro bono legal service.
The award recognizes an exemplary AmeriCorps member who has exhibited the same dedication to community service and civic engagement as did Mr. Wone, who served on the Governor’s Commission on Community and National Service.
He was a tireless activist and volunteer who advanced the interests of many charitable organizations. He provided many hours of pro bono legal service to help others and was instrumental in establishing the Virginia Service Foundation.
Candidates must have served as a Virginia AmeriCorps member during the previous program year, be returning to the program for a 2nd year and exemplify dedication and leadership.
The 2022 Wone award will be given out as part of the Virginia National Service Awards presented during AmeriCorps Week.
